Hi I’m Fi Powers. It all started at school, little illustrations in the margin of English books and a dogged refusal, assisted by my hugely supportive mum, to do home economics with the girls when design and graphics was reserved for the boys. I was the first girl in that school to take design as an option. I haven’t stopped drawing since.
An art foundation led to gaining a BA in Illustration at Maidstone College of Art alongside Tracey Emin. It’s safe to say that our life experiences have led to differing styles and career paths.
15 years as a freelance illustrator and art worker in London led to a huge variety of work including shop displays, book and magazine illustration and art-working/visualising projects.
As with any artist, the ability to work to a client’s brief is tempered by the need to create work from personal inspiration; that’s why I started Fiink Design, the outlet for my personal creations, inspired by my love of pattern, texture and colour, married to inspiration taken from mid-20th Century and Scandinavian design. These images are available as prints, cards and gifts from me, as well as from producers that I have licensed my designs to.
I now live in Bath, working regularly with Children’s book publishers and design companies on various illustration, design and art working projects.
I am proficient in all Adobe software.
